Default Useless talents you've aquired in the hobby !

I thought this would make a humorous thread. So my question to all fellow hobbyist...What useless talent have you aquired in the hobby ?

I can make all the money in my wallet disappear when I go to the lfs !

I have a talent for driving my wife crazy talking about purchasing new fish, upgrading tanks, or DIY projects. Her eyes just start to roll when I say......you know what would be cool......?

I am extremely good at cleaning the bathroom weekly, because that is where I dump the water from water changes. I have a need to clean after so my kids don't get sick.

I am also great at never being happy with my tank - always wanting to change something.

My useless talent that will never be fulfilled--

Wanting to upgrade my 220! Wanting bigger....

As of right now in our new build.. we will have the 220, and then 2 75's--one on each side..plus my 90g freshwater, and my 20g FOWLR (in the nursery in the wall) that will all be built into the walls, running to one sump. My next talent... Emptying my wallet, to these dreams.

But you know what? I can't wait to empty my wallet to our build in July!! After all is said and done.. with a 150g sump (most likely bigger, more like a 220) we will have a 610g system. Oh the possibilities.

Since joining RB My typing has improved and sometimes that feels useless.I have learned to read between the lines.I have learned to bite my tongue, but not very hard and only once per thread lol.I have learned to read each question twice in an attempt to not make myself look so foolish.(I however am not the only one who needs to practice this). Is it all useless?I guess that has to be answered by the people who read what I type.

Nativeman, when I get on here and see you've posted in a thread, I check it out, even though I may not 'need' to, just to see what 'Yoda of reefkeeping' says on the matter!

P.S. I do check out the other experienced reefers posts as well, btw! You are all SOOOOOO helpful to us newbies! Thank you for taking the time to help us out!

Um, Nativeman, I am NOT suggesting you are 900 years old, btw! Just very wise in reefs!

Oh, my useless talent I guess would be aquascaping. I was suprised that 80lbs of live rock fit into my 55gal, let alone getting compliments on the rock work! Hopefully, it's a talent I won't have to use over again in this tank. Hoping to use it next in a 220 or 400 gallon (Shhhh, my dh doesn't know about this future venture yet!)

My new found talent is the abilty to hold my arm up high like a doctor and use a subtle twisting action after I hurriedly stuck my arm in the tank up to my armpit fixing what seemed like an emergency disruption, only to remember that I forgot to grab a towel to dry myself with. Useless, huh?

So am I. But lately I have not been using this "skill".

I actually have a itch to get better at plumbing and woodworking. My TV has a cruddy stand and I got the storebought over priced stand for my tank as well. Seeing some of these guys build entire rooms or run a massive plumbing system looks like it might be useful outside the hobby. However, knowing me I would by some plumbing and woodworking stuff and then forget about it.
