Default Anemone alternative

OK so I've read and read....and then I read some more. Baically for a nano reef it would be impossible to keep both SPS and anemones. Apparently they sting the SPS and I woulnd't want that. However a book I read said that rhodactis sp. mushrooms would be a good alternative. First off, if I mispelled that my bad. Second is has anyone heard of a clown or any other anemone hosting fish/invertabrae hosting in one of those. Thrid what are these mushrooms...are they regular mushroom or are they huge. Thanks for all the help guys and girls..and becky

I have heard of clowns hosting in a lot of different things, anywhere from sea urchins to feather dusters.

Back to your question about the shroom. Most comonly clowns will host in a Rhodactis indosinensis if no anemone is present. I believe you can get them at liveaquaria, but am not sure.

Just to help you out, do a search for anything on line. Here is a site I found; clippo's Photo Galleries at pbase.com yes a clown will prob. host it as mine has.

My 2 false perc clowns host my fake anemone. LOL. No joke its the funniest thing. I can't get real anemone or corals due to my puffer and or trigger will eat them, so I have some pretty decent looking fakes. Its cool watching the clowns in the fake anemone.

ricordias are something a little different.

Hariy mushroom:

Ricordia

A ric. is almost like a breed between an anemone and a mushroom, but took more features of the mushroom if you will.

Most do, there might be a few kinds that need special requirements.

I've seen clowns host almost anything. Leather corals to powerheads, even a piece of PVC pipe (no joke)
