| There is no poll?

| I COULD edit you post to create an actual poll for you, but I'll tell you how to do it instead so you know how to create one. I'm sure that you probably want the actual poll check box options like most polls have. To create a poll, inside of the create a "New Thread" button, below your post there is an "Additional Options" area. In that area, you should see a "Post a poll" box. Check that box when making the thread and then when you click on the "Submit new thread" button, it will take you an area where you can post your poll questions and answer options.

Lots of book smarts out there but very little experience IMHO. |

| This thread is already very interesting! However, as much as I would love to disagree with the queen of RB, she is right. ![]() |

| But, it would be an interesting poll, esp. if the results were open to the public so we can see how highly everyone thinks of themselves, as long as everyone plays nice.

| I Have Posted a Poll. I hope that all will be Professional and Courteous to all Members who Participate. We are not here to debate the subject of anyone's level of intelligence or knowledge of Reef Care! This can be fun for everyone!

I feel I am a beginning intermediate Reefer. |
| ||||
| I think I'm in the intermediate range.I have a pretty good grasp on the basics.There's lots of things I don't know but I know were to find the info.Basiclly I know what I don't know.How would any really be an expert?In 2 years everything you know will be considered outdated.WET/dry ,bio balls

| I would have to say intermediate at this time. Simply because I think one get through being a beginner just by reading a lot of the information out there (both good and bad). It takes knowledge to get to intermediate, but takes experience to get anywhere beyond that in this hobby! Just my opinion. |
| ||||
| IMO, you need to basic knowledge plus either a lot of reading or some experience to get to intermediate. To get to advanced, you need a lot of reading plus a decent amount of experience. But, what do you need to get from advanced to expert? Nobody is an expert in every area of reef keeping. Some people specialize in lighting, chemistry, corals, fish, etc..., but that doesn't make them an expert in reef keeping. Nobody specializes in everything.

| You're one of THOSE people Becky that I wouldn't consider an expert in any field, but very knowledgable about nutrition and disease via books and on-line data. I'd listen to your advice and thoughts on those subjects (although I may choose to not follow it) even though you have much less reef keeping experience. One of the reasons why I haven't answered yet is because I want to know what other people consider a beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert. Too be honest, there are very, very few people in the US that I consider an expert in reef keeping, though I may take the word "expert" to mean a level that is way above what most people consider an expert.

| Hmm This idea came from liveaquaria and other stores that place the care level, and then stace had told me that she was thinking of a purcupinefish and a boxfish, and they said expert only, but then she told me you just have to figure out why they are expert only. Then I thought if that would make her an Expert Hobbiest Then I came to this, very confused lol
