Bio balls=Nitrate??

Hello Everyone:confused:
The topic i want to talk about is...Should i remove the bioball's from my sump????
My tank is 125 reef the Nitrate's are at 30 ppm as of last night 2/23/07
Amm is 0
Nitrite is 0
Cal 315
Alk 3.0
Phos 0.5
PH 8.2
Salinity 1.024-25
I use RO water
I dont test Mag
I also did a 5 gal water change after testing
I added Part A and B The supplement i use is,C-Balance last night to raise CAL-ALK...
Im testing again today..Im waiting for my water temp to raise to 79...The tank sit's at 78 all night and hit's 80 by 5pm...............Which is normal from what I read..

If my Nitrate's didnt lower or have not changed i'll do a larger water change tonight prob 10 gal.....The only other thing i can think of that's causeing high Nitrate's is the Diamond goby i bought 2 week's ago he/she it sift's sand all day long..And the sand bed is only 1 inch in some spot's and 2 inch's in other's..Before i add him the trate's sat at 20ppm which is boarder line high for Coral's.....
So my Question's are
1 Should i add 80lbs of sand or
2 Remove the bioball's to help lower Trates
I do weekly water change's of 5gal. My water should be perfect..
Im eather missing somthing or just lost..

If anybody has a idea or a tip i would appreciate the help very much!!

1 last thing i dont use kalk

Thank's all Brian:confused:

I would remove the bio balls personally. I have heard from many different resources that they are more problems than they are good. Maybe you could just remove half of them and see if that helps. If not get rid of all of them. Im sure others will post if they feel that I am incorrect.

I would remove them 1/2 now and in about two week remove the rest.

I've heard that you can just clean them and that will help, but overall I've heard that they do generally cause more problems with nitrate than they solve. Maybe a refugium or something would work better for you. How many inches of fish do you have?

do you have a skimmer? and is it working well? i just sold my 135 that had a 40gal wet\dry and a skimmer. 150lbs of live rock and a 3" live sand bed. never once did my nitrates go up. and in 1 1\2 years i did 1 water change of 40gal. i had 7 large fish and a great cleanup crew and only fed once daily. i never had a problem with my bioballs on that tank. but my 55 with a similar setup always had probs. i always just thought it was because of the drastic size difference.
