Default bio balls to live rock

I have a 49 gallon bow front, with a 15 gallon wet dry, it has been running for 6 months. Currently i use bioballs in my wet dry. From what i've read i am slowly taking out my bio balls. I am going to replace them with a 10 or so pound chunk of live rock. Should i slowly add the rock to keep my tank from going into a mini cycle or will it matter? Any info helps

Cycle the rock outside the tank in a tub first.I would brake it up into small pieces first 2x2 inch's or smaller.

I would brake up the live rock into 2x2 or smaller chunks and cycle it in a tub outside the main tank.

As a heads up, you may not need live rock in your sump if you have sufficient amounts in your display.

sorry about the double post. I have about 75 pounds of live rock in my display, would that be fine or should i add some to the wet dry? Also any ideas of what i could do with the free space in the wet dry, if i left the rock out of it?
