Icon5 green on glass and sand?HELP!!!

I can't seem to get it to go away. I do use purple up and the kalkwasswer on occasion. My nitrates are still a little high working on that. My Ph is 8.4 and my calcium around 450. My nitrites are 0 and I do use tap water. Hoping to get a ro/di unit soon. It doesn't sound lilke green hair algae because it's not bubbly or on my rockwork, just the glass and my pumps and sand. MY hard coral and mushroom are both fine, but my xenia have really shrank in the last two days and I hoping that maybe starting phosban will help? I just put on a higher watt light about 1 month ago. Can anyone help with some suggestions? Please help!!

ARRGH! Tap water, regardless of its source (city or well) contains a lot of elements which can stimulate algae growth. I found out the hard way; first get a water purification system either RO or RO/DI. Also, if you're using kalkwasser, you really don't need Purple Up. You'll get many opinions, good and bad about Purple Up, but the majority say it's not worth your money and can really cause algae problems. If you do regular water changes, you really don't need to add anything, especially since you are using kalkwasser.

Could you post tank parameters?

"Nitrates a little high"? alk and mag would also be helpful as lower levels of things affect your tanks buffering capacity.

Tank set up would also help along with list of fish.
