Hello everyone, just found the forum. Ironically the finding was the by product for a search for fiji gold and purple up (yes I just cancelled my order of purple up, no need to lecture me and I can testify to purple up making your coralline one color). I've been working with my reef for five years now, I started with a used 110 oceanic and now have a 150 tenicor. I built my own light to save money but am in the middle of an upgrade (bought a retro kit for my hood 2x400w 14000K 2x96w pc's. What I am running now is 3x250w 10000k 4x65w pc's. As a side not my chiller just crapped out so I had to turn off one of the 250w's to keep the tank cool, my wife isn't happy I turned the heat down. Hopefully UPS comes with the new unit soon.

Welcome! Love the tank! Looking forward to seeing more. What are you "running under the hood"?

heh, you asked right as Im in the middle of a light change and chiller issue.

currently I have a homebrew light that has 3x250w HM 10000k and 4x65w PC atinic but because my chiller crapped out last week I've been only running 2 HM's.

I bought a retro fit kit that has 2x400w HM 140000K and 2x96w atinic so Im trying to get that installed with the hood that came with the tank this weekend, bu it's on hold because of the following. I wish they had a good fish store in milwaukee, I'd pay the extra money for convenience and state of mind when buying stuff like this.

I know you didn't ask about the chiller, but Im a little upset about it.... so I ordered a 1/3hp drop in chiller from customaquatic.com. it took a week to get here and upon opening it last night when I got home from class (man if anyone tells you to get a phd seriously think twice) I opened it up to find

so I wrote them a letter, and hopefully will hear back from them today... I copied the letter to them below for your enjoyment.

"Hello,

I already submitted a damaged package webform, but thought it was necessary to document my findings via pictures. The pictures show that the box that was sent had already been opened and resealed, this is evident by the light discoloration on the box top where the cardboard had been ripped away. The controller unit and accessories bag had been opened and resealed with tape. One of the security straps had been broken and the chilller case has been damaged. There are plastic pieces in the bottom of the box and there is also a missing bolt visible on the condenser. The outer box that the chiller had been shipped in had no signs of damage. It would appear that the chiller had been opened and tampered with before shipping.

I had to post them on my web server because the first email where the pictures were attached was terminated by your mail server for excessive storage.

I needed this chiller to be operational as soon as it came in because I am having temperature problems with my reef due to my other chiller failing. I've waited a week for this chiller and it arrived damage, but not by shipping it appears that I was shipped a defective unit from your warehouse.

I anticipate your reply for instructions on how to proceed and I appreciate all the help you can give to this matter.
Sincerely,
Eric Dohman

That really blows. I'm pretty nervous about ordering stuff online, especially when a lot of money is involved. Luckily I have a couple of pretty nice LFS here in the Tampa Bay area.

What's the topic of your dissertation? Next step for me would be a PhD, but ugh....what a commitment!

At least you'll get the more challenging stuff out of the way first and there won't be any surprises. So what's the field, if you don't mind me asking.
