Default Giving away clown pair w/ haddons carpet

Hey guys i hate to say tht me and my wife are thinking about giving away her pair of false percs and there carpet due to the fact tht our pair of black ocell. prlly wont get along in the same tank and we dont really want them split up like a FS would do. So im posting this thread to see if anyone wants or is willing to take them and give them a good home. They have wonderful personality, but are very protective of there anenome, fyi. There both old enought to spawn and actaullu i belive they are in the process of trying jsut havint gotten it down yet, they sure as heck look like it. Anyway if anyone would be interseted jsut post, i look throughout the day. Here are some pics old and new of all 3. Oh yah we live in Fort Hood, texas so it may be hard shipping ill see how bad it would be.

old pic

new pics of them

How far is Fort Hood from Fort Worth?! I am very interested if they're still available, I don't mind meeting to pick them up, I do have a false perc already but he's pretty small, and there's tons of rock/cave work in my tank so I'm sure the three would be ok. If not, I'll take the one I have now to my lfs cause they'll barter with me.

Please let me know, oh, if this works out, what do you feed your anemone and how often?

Hope we can help eachother on this, would love to have a couple of false percs in the tank!

I hope so! I googled Fort Hood and I'd be willing to drive an hour for some great looking clowns and an anemone! I haven't added anything new to my dt for over 2 months so, everything is very good with the water and I have great t5 lights for an anemone.

Well, me and my wife are talking abou tit only b/c i thought we might sell them to a lfs but once i thought about it theni wanted to keep them but i think tht we may decide to give them to, you. Just have to know they were my first ever fish and kinda hard to let go but were moving nad cant keep everything. We have 3 pairs of clown, marron, black and the false percs you see.
I feed the anenome about twice a week 1-2 brine shrimp, then packaged stuff is fine. the clowns rarely move away form there carpet onylt o feed really. the carpet likes to move alot, so if you have corals you may have to move them high until the carpet finds a place it likes. you could tell were is was heading but still. I have to warn you about it though its very i would say sticky , it attached itself to me when i got it and left a nice sting on my figner, so be careful when placing it in the tankk and when feeding it. you dont want to attach trust me it hurts, lol. Other then tht i try and keep my water quality the best i can and lighting high, its under 150 MH right now but T5 would be fine. Ill talk to my wife to see about a time we can take a drive and meet you abot half way. Ty for responding so soon. may be as soon as this saturday maybe next week would be best, well see.

I can understand it being hard to let them go, especially since they were your first residents, I am on this website and always reading up on how to give the best possible care of my residents and I'm all for taking things slowly in my reef. It's been running for 9 months now and so far is doing well, only have three fish, a brittle sea star, a cuc and some yellow polyps and a kenya tree coral which are at opposite sides of the tank so I would see if the anemone likes the sandy big spot in the middle of the dt. I can remove some lr from my dt to crush into rubble for the sump and that'd give the anemone more substrate space if it looks like it needs it. I love the clown I have and I hope he's ok with the new kids but like I said, I want a harmonious tank and I know my lfs will do a trade with me if I need to.

Here's a recent pic of my dt, think I'd like to see where my fish were going as well and hey, like I said, I am on this site probably too often and love posting pics!

Here are the tank mates so far:

cherub angel

other false percula clown

I have a lawnmower blenny too but, he's shy...

If you'd like to meet this Saturday, I can do that but only late afternoon/evening time since our daughters birthday party is from 2-4 and I work in the mornings, please just let me know what works for you and we'll find a time.

Thank you for entrusting me with your fish and anemone, please keep in touch and look for the pics I post to see how they're doing! (I know my profile says I have 6 months experience, but I have 15 years experience with freshwater fish as well, just little factoid about maself!).

Wonderful, i love your tank btw and the cherub angel, i have one as well it being my 2nd fish. Being tht you have a flase perc as and them being the same they all may get along and grp up, the only thing tht may throw a fork in it is hte 2 i have a rea pair so you would have to see. The carpet loves the snad and would find a nook in the rock and place its foot most likely, but thts to see were it would go, im just sharing our exp with it. I would be gald as well as my wife tht you take the fish , but i dont wanna ruin your daughters BD so if saturday isnt the best jsut let us know we can do it another time, it doest matter. I was thinign tht waco would be abotu the half way mark but i may be wrong, anywho im glad tht they will be goign to a good home and have more room in the tank then the 29gal there in now,ty for responding so fast to eveything i ahve posted.

Oh, if it's later like at 6 or 7 then that would work, honestly, all our Saturday's are pretty booked and tomorrow may be the less hectic out of them all in April... but we could meet in the afternoon on a Sunday as well, anywhere from 3-6.

Would it be ok to meet at the 337A exit on 35? We can meet on Waco Road too (84?) but can't find exits on that street.

Thanks for your fast replies too!

Lol, I lived there as a little girl and visited every summer till I was 16, best place to live! My parents live in Ketchican.

6-7 will be fine, I totally understand how crazy the Army's schedule can be, my Dad was in the Army at Elmendorf in Anchorage, wierd how much us strangers have in common! Also, I'll pm you guys so I can give you my cell number in case you need to reach me while I'm on the way there.

Thank you so much again, I'm looking forward to meeting them, love clowns! (not human clowns, they freak me out a little...). I'll pm my # to you guys. See you tomorrow around 6:15, that'll be when I plan on getting to 337A. Looking forward to meeting you guys!

Small world, as a youngster I lived in Sitka, just up the coast from Ketchican.

Ya know, it's possibel you've heard of my step mom then, she's an excellent music teacher that's won state and national teaching awards, Mary Scott Kurth?... Her and my dad both teach, in Anchorage, then Wrangel, now Ketchican. I really do miss Alaska, after my parents divorced, my dad would plan lots of camping trips, we'd go fishing (fishing here in Texas is NOTHING compared to catching a 45 pound halibut and realling that thing up 300 feet!) I don't actually remember much about Sitka, is that the town where the old gold rush ghost town is?.. We'd go to Seward, Homer and Fairbanks a lot.

Guess you can't just go and fish out your own specimins though, a little chilly there! BTW, I think I'm addicted to Deadliest Catch because it brings a little bit of Alaska back to me.

Ok, sorry I got off topic! Can you tell I miss Alaska?!

John and Keri, I just wanted to let you guys know that everyone made it back home, alive!

Also, I'll post a couple pics here after I finish lunch but the anemone has stayed where I put it and is inflated and has eaten a few bites of mysis shrimp (that I also fed my fish). The clown pair is doing well in the quarantine tank, they didn't acclimate long as they weren't looking so well when we got home but they're doing fine now. Hoping they'll be ready to eat some tonight.

Thank you again for meeting us half way and for giving us such cool specimens! I'm a little anxious to see how big the anemone grows (it's a merten carpet) but it seems to be adjusting well. (you probably would have been laughing at me trying to pry it off the bag... got it off without harming it though!).

actually dana, me and ker were looking into it and it is a haddons carpet, they look similar to the mertens but the mertens has longer tentacles and a lil different coloring, it look very ncie in your tank, hope you like them all.
