Default 55g sump - top-center brace broke

Hi All, I'm considering using my old 55g to build my sump, however the top plastic brace is broken (the back side broke and I broke off the front side, probably wasn't a great idea but water under the bridge). I plan on installing baffles, the question is should I just toss it and buy a new tank to prevent a big mess down the road or would it work as a sump?

I was thinking of epoxy'n a piece of plastic to the top...not sure if that would make it any safer.

when running normal, it would only be fill 1/2 way, but I'm a bit concern as to what might happen if there is a power outage and the sump fill up...will the seals fall apart, etc.?...I prefer to save some $$ and use it to buy something else but not at the expense of flooding my basement....just thought it would be a good idea to run it by you guys before I start gluing baffles in.

If you epoxy a 4-6" wide plastic brace across the top, it will be just as strong as the original brace. Once you add the baffles into the sump, it will be stronger than the original tank. Honestly, if you install a few baffles in the sump, you shouldn't even need the center brace since the silicone holding the baffles in place would help hold the tank sides in, but I still wouldn't chance it without the center brace.
