That's some tough luck. The good news is that you were able to save the coral/fish & rock.
Good luck with the new tank once you save up the $$$$.

Wow, sorry to hear the news

Anything to pass on about your lessons learned?

The 75 gal aquarium and stand I bought were sold together and has a 10 year warranty as long as they were installed together. Even so, if this happened to me, I would need some serious threopy!

Brian, just because you lost your tank (fortunately not the critters) doesn't mean you can't come in here and shoot the bull with us all. You have experience and great things to share. Hope to still see you around and Best Of Luck with the 220!

Look at it as a way to upgrade, but in any case, sorry about your tank.

Man, sorry to hear about that. What do you think was the reason the seal broke? I guess you can check out lifereef.com now like you had mentioned. I hope you can get up and running sooner than later. Wish you all the luck in getting things back together!!!!

Man I feel for you but you have to ask yourself...
Is 220 the biggest tank that will fit in my place?
You and I both know the answer in NO!

Brian,

Was the tank that blew a seam uneven ??

I've herd that an uneven/level tank can put ALOT of stress on the seams and could prematurely cause an event similar to yours..

I'm not saying this is what happend but just be extra sure your new tank is level before you do anything

I had a centerbrace crack and give because I was in a hurry and didnt level the tank...

The lessons we learn sometimes I tell ya.

Its good to know your gonna stick with the hobby, and to get a 180, you is lucky !!!

Default Craigslist

Keep an eye on craigslist: san francisco bay area classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events I see tanks there when people move sometimes. Just a thought it may have been mentioned if not check it out.

Good Luck

Where are you located brian? I don't know if this will help or not, but if you are somewhat close to Kentucky, I have a lfs that just quoted a few prices on tanks last saturday. Here are the sizes and prices:
all glass reef ready 180 gallon 72 x 24 x 24 $780
all glass reef ready 210 gallon 72 x 24 x 29 $850
Oceanic reef ready 215 gallon 72.5 x 24 x 29 $1675

I can find lower prices in the area, just no quotes on paper as of yet. I will have some tomorrow evening if you would like them.
