Default Cage Match Battle Royale HELP

purchased 2 tangs about 3 months ago a blue and a powder brown. They couldn't be happier. In taking my LFS's advice I purchased a yellow tang last so that he wouldn't be the most dominant and everything could co-exist peacefully.

The powder brown has taken offense to this action. The yellow tang was purchased yesterday. He survived the night with the brown constantly trying to nibble at his rear fin.

The yellow tang didn't eat today, so I am fearful he is trying to self-suicide.

But in the past fish have taken a day to settle in to the tank.

Should the yellow tang be returned to the LFS, or will the powder brown get over himself?

I'm looking for solutions please. I'm tempted to go buy at least another piece of live rock so things would be different and there might be a new hiding spot the yellow could claim.
HELP PLEASE =]

Yes, I'd return him. IMO, a 90 gal tank is too short for tangs once they grow to adult size, let alone having multiple ones within a tank.

Take him back ASAP,and then SLAP your LFS across the face.Too many tangs first of all for 90 gal. second i am suprised the blue and brown have gotten along so well, that is great. But no more tangs.Good luck.

I just upgraded to a 125 gal tank, and have 4 tangs in my tank right now, and plan on getting 2 more soon. I have added them all at different times and never had a problem. I will tell you though the yellow tangs are pretty aggressive weather they are new or old to a tank, big or small, it doesn’t matter. I always leave the light out while I acclimate them and leave it off until the next morning. They may bump each other a few times after the new guy is put in, but in about an hour they are friends and do great. I do plan on getting a much larger tank after we buy a new house next year though. They are all small now and have lots of swimming room, but if you plan on keeping them I would get a larger tank or return one. If you want to really keep him I would move all your rocks around, that way all the fish will have a different environment. I am surprised the yellow tang is not picking on all the other tangs, my yellow is the main one who always checks out the new fish for a while.
