Default Yellow tang question....

i got a free yellow tang yesterday and put it in my tank its the only fish in thier with a blood shrimp, its only like 4 inches long its pretty small, but i tried feeding it yesterday when i put it in and it did not seem interested at all in the algea sheet. so i should i induce feeding i also dont want to pollute the tank by putting food it wont take. ? thanks for any help.

Some tangs can be picky as to what kinds of algae sheets they will eat. I've had several people over the years give me new packages of algae sheets that their tang wouldn't touch. Over time, your YT may end up eating that particular type of sheet, but in the mean time, I'd try feeding it some spirulina flake food or a different type of algae sheet and see what happens. Also, since YTs like algae, it could very well be picking some of your your rock in the tank so it doesn't need any more food.
