Default damsel dilema

i have had a 4stripe damsel and a Javanese Damsel for a couple of years now and i just added a blue hippo tang to my tank. the damsels instantly attacted it. i like my damsels but i think they are going to keep being aggressive to this fish. any advice on how to keep them from being so aggressive

From what i understand damsels are territorial fish so more than likely they are going to keep picking on the tang my advice would be if it persists remove the damsel. that may be a hard thing to do after having them for years hope it helps

Damsels are mean little suckers. You could try rearranging the rock work or removing the damsels temporarily to a QT. Either one might allow the tang to establish it's own territory.

I agree, removing the damsels to a QT would be the best bet on letting the tang establish himself. with out due action the tang is gonna get stressed and get ich more than likely. i know catching damsels isnt much fun. i know its not the same but what i did to catch my chromis' after they finished cycling my tank i put a large net into the tank about an hour before the lights went out left it there over night and the next day after the lights were on for about 6 hours they were more or less cofortable with the net in the tank then i put brine shrimp directly in the back of the net and 5 of 7 swam right in after it and i promply scooped them out. the 6th was just as easy but the 7th i had to wait another 2 hours before i was able to fish him out. another way is use a 20 Oz soda bottle or gator aid bottle method. hope this helps
