I've had mine for a couple of months. It did the same thing when first introduced into the tank. They are grazing herbivores. I feed mine Ocean Nutrition Formula Two Small Pellets and add a little spirulina flakes soaked in Selcon.

From the research I did and current observation, they are not known jumpers. Mine's in a 29g alone with no cover.

Great fish!

Mine was the same way when he was purchased. Never showed interest in flakes, pellets, algae sheets, Mysis, Scallops etc.. He didn't eat for a few weeks after getting him (minimal amounts), then one day he started showing signs of interest by chasing around food and "playing" with it. Now he is literally like a lawnmower, eating everything that the other fish reject or if they are all finished he will clean everything up! I guess he eventually conformed to the switch, but even with algae in the tank he never went after any.. Though sometimes he will graze the rock and walls chomping on it, not often though as the name would lead you to believe. Just make sure there is enough flow to keep the food suspended, it is very difficult for them to eat off the sand. And no, they are not jumpers.. At least I have never had one jump out on me..
