In clowns, the female is always the more dominant of the two as well as being larger than the male. When multiple clownfish are in a display together, usually there will be only one male and female out of the entire bunch with all the others being inactive juveniles. When your mated pair were introduced to the two juvenile clowns, the mated male picked the largest of the two juve's and began switching to a dominant female. Feeling threatened by his previous female partner, he (soon to be she) chases her off in defense of its new partner. The other smaller juvenile clown may still have a chance of partnering up with the mated female and begin changing into a male. Yes it is somewhat sad, strange and barely makes sense but that is part of what makes clowns so interesting!

Yes sir in the world of fish business they would be considered swingers haHA!

Please do keep us posted on the status of this situation, it is always something interesting.
IMO Clowns have one of the most unique personalities of the many species of fish out there in the ocean!
