Default Filtration Contemplation

Just interested to see if and what people are or arent using as filters in their reef tanks.
I have a 180 w/ a 90 gal. sump. This question is besides a protein skimmer.

I am giong to be useing the lifereefugium 2 from Lifereef Filter Systems with a calcium reactor. Looks like a well designed set up and of high quality. Seems that this configuration is the way to go at the moment. Hope this helps a little.

I Use A Mega Flow With A Lifereef Skimmer Seems To Be Doing The Trick. Lifereef Is A Great Product If You Can Handle A Few Extra Bucks.

20-25lbs of rubble rock in the sump combined with macro algae in the refugium and a phosban reactor filled with carbon.. and of course the protein skimmer...

other then the carbon, I let my live rock and sand be the filter

I use a filterpad over crushed live rock along with a protein skimmer. Cheap and water quality is staying good for the past year.

More water volume with a sump, a place to put your heater and equipment under the tank and out of sight...

Canister filters are good for running carbon only IMO, and even then it needs to be changed 3-4weeks at the max or you run into them become "nitrate factories"

Natural is the way to go IMO if at all possible
