It's a Beautiful Fish but they are not a Reef Safe Fish. Add to Reef with caution if you feed well, it may not nip on corals. It depends on if you have coral it has a taste for. Mine like's Xenia! I believe they really like the softies.

As with just about all pygmy angels. Coral beautys' can eat corals. This doesnt mean that it will but also doesnt mean that it wont. Sometimes you just get one that likes corals and others that dont. That is just the bottom line with pygmy angels. But if you want to be extra cautious, see if it will eat prepared food before you buy it. If it wont eat prepared food after a few visits to the fish store dont buy it.

LOL with your coral beauty. I second mtfabel, pygmy angels have individual personalities. I was told you can't keep more than one per tank. I had a 75 w/a flame, an Eibl's and a bicolor along with soft corals and a clam. They all got along. I love watching them swim in and out of the rockwork, picking at the LR.

Ive had my coral beauty for about a year, and it doesnt pick at any of the 20 corals I have. Every once in a while Ill see it nip at a gorgonian but only for a split second. Mine loves to swin in and out of the rockwork. Beautiful fish to get.....that and the flams angel

i have a pygmy angel...great fish. mine does the same thing...will nip at the gorgonian every now and then but never damages it. he is always making his rounds in and out of the LR. i have never seen it bother any of the other corals in the tank and i have alot of them. i think 80% of the time the LFS gives you the worst case scenrio right off the bat and tells you that fish isnt reef safe just to cover themselves....i mean, why not..the way everyone wants to blame everyone else for there misfortunes....i would probably want to cover my behind as well.

My LFS is horrible they always make things up off the top of their head. Sometimes my friend and I will go there, spend about 15 minutes looking around and then ask obvious questions about different fish, and then the people there abviously make everything up and half the info they give is false, then we just kinda look at eachother and smirk. But there are def. known cases where the coral beauty is not reef safe.

I have a coral beauty and a flame angel in my 75G and they are a pleasure to watch. Not much coral in the tank.

Interesting that the coral beauty and flame got along; did you introduce them at the same time?

No they were not introduced at the same time the Coral Beauty was in the tank about 2 months before I got the Flame. I put the flame in, in the evening and had to turn the lights out! It was rough first couple days. The first night was the worst. Now all is well. I do not recommend doing this in a tank smaller than 75G. it seems there is just enough room here for these fish to be happy now that they are established together. I have about 125 LB of live rock that gives them plenty of area to cover around my tank. Of the two fish the coral beauty was the most aggressive. Maybe because it is slightly larger fish not sure.
