question re: Burrfish and sargassum fish compatability Hello. I am new to this forum and have a question re: compatability. My son is a marine life enthusiast with a sharp eye and quick hand coordination. We presently have 3 marine tanks going -- two 30 gal and one 10 gal. The original 30 gal was set up for the typical small stuff -- wrasse, blennies, robin fish, pipe fish, etc. He then caught a burrfish - orginally about 4 inches long. We set him up in his own 10-gal talnk with a live rock and an anemone. He is now 6 inches long. Last week, my son caught a sargassum fish - about 3 inches in body. We've set him up in another 30 gal. tank. I would like to put the burrfish and his anemone into the new 30 gal tank, and close down the 10 gal. But...I read that the sargassum is a solitary and voracious predator. I doubt he will eat the burrfish, but he might beat him up or something. Any suggestions? One thought is to give the burrfish the 30 gal tank and put the sargassum in the 10 gal if he must be kept alone. We are quite fond of the burrfish and don't want to jeopardize his health.
