hi i was wondering if i could keep a blue hippo tang in my 55g and they lfs and i worked out a deal that when it gets to big they will make me pay 10 bucks and will let me get a tiny one.

Right now in my 55 i have a powder brown tang and he is doing great. I got him about 1 year ago when we was about 4in long and 2-3 in wide, since then hes grown to about 6in long and 4-5 in wide. Soon he will to big and i too will have to get rid of him (that will bw a sad day). So i think that its fine as long as you dont try to hold onto him for too long and cause him alot of stress, otherwise its a beautiful fish and enjoy!!

actually i am doing this because i like to see them grow up and then get an ity bity one.

i dunno, i would say as long as you only keep it in there when it is relatively small. i would say anything under 4-5 inches should be OK

i know becasue i think they look amazing when they are tiny and small

they sure do, and sometimes they get caught up in a stong current and will get caried half way across the tank.

well lets see if my dad will let me spend 10 bucks more and get a hippo instead of a yellow tang.

Personally I'd stick with the Yellow tang out of the two, the Yellow is more hardy, the blue hippos are very prone to ich and the small ones have a high death rate as they usually end up with ich or inexperienced keepers...

oh well i guess then that i will go to aquarium showcase today and get me a yellow tang for 20 bucks.

i have a ytello, and it will eat right out of my hand! it will also let me pet it...im a little scared of it "scalpel" though

when you talk about the 'scalpel" what is that

it is a surgons tool to cut open a pateint. and it is at the tail of a tang. be carefull about their tail. oh and i will get some pics of my yellow tang. oh and i have a question about them krazy will they eat the crapload of brown alage i am getting. and i just started using r/0 water adn so far it hasnt helped me at all.

i know that is why i have been kinda putin of the yellow tang for a month by buy a coral or a starfish. and things like that so i can get ot know more about the fish.
