A 55 gallon tank is too small for tangs...they need a large swimming space and a tank of no less than 90 gallons

yes but it is like u can keep them in a 55g but like try to not have alot of rock in it is the whole thing and i dont have alot of rock at all. actually my fake coral has just turned in to lr it has coraline and little critters growing on it so from 30lbs i went to 60lbs without any more space going so i think i can accomidate a yellow tang with my coralbeauty and ccstarfish.

It's not live rock it just has coralline algae on it...which serves no purpose other than taking over space where other algae would grow.

Blind,lr is lr.fake critters are fake critters and cant become lr.Coraline algea will grow on just about anything but that doesnt make just about anything live rock does it?According to all accounts putting a tang in anything under 75 gallons is not a good thing and maybe 90 is better.you can rationalize it any way you want but wrong is wrong.

I'm sure you wouldn't want to be put in a 50 ft house...even if you take away your furniture in your 50 ft house the house is still 50 feet no matter how you put it.

i beleive it is the hawaiian yellow tang, but it is a specific type of hawaiian tang.

this is the one that needs a large aquarium: Zebrasoma flavescens

im not sure of the name of the smaller species, but it looks exactly the same just about. i do have a pic of mine.

i know a lot of experts who keep hawiian yellows in 55gallon tanks. this is because they're less active then other tangs. ive been told they wont eat as much as most tangs either, as far as hair algae goes. i have no idea weather thats true or not. just use your judgement.
