How many "Barney's" do you have. Probably one or two "Dora" as well.
LOL!

He has named all of the anemonefish "Nemo", of course. The yellow watchman goby is just "Goby", super creative. The purple firefish is "Potion". Every shrimp in my house is a "Jacques".

Yeah that has happened to me also. It really annoys the s**t out of me. My friend was over one day helping me lay some tile. He had to bring his kids with him. "Look dad he has nemo and dory". Soon as I heard that I had to give a lesson on fish. Cant have kids growing up not knowing the difference. My GF said I was being anal. OK so what.

Good God. My kid actually knows most of the crap you can find at the LFS. He knows that Nemo is a clown fish. He knows Gurgle is a royal gramma. Can tell you about puffers and triggerfish, yellow tangs, butterflyfish, chromis. When I bought him a black brittlestar for his tank he pulled Marine Invertebrates by Shimek out to look it up. He tries to identify shells that we brought back from Camp LeJuene...he has one of those sea shell Audubon series books. Doesn't know the latin names yet, but he is pretty smart. If you had kids looking at your tank everyday, they would know exactly what you have without the Disney names. It is nothing to get all excited about.

I would really appreciate some help on naming my fish...

I am endeared to them all but call them general names, like... sweety, cookie, precious, cutie.. what does this tell you about the pet owner...?

I too have thought that if I named them, I would get too attached... (naming a pet makes it part of the family, with burial rites, etc. and I don't want to have to bury it)

So having lost some of my first precious memories due to ignorance, fish incompatibility, etc. I fear getting too attached to these guys, lest my heart be broken again.
