Default Tang stopped eating

My yellow tang refuses to eat and hasn't for a while now. Shows no signs of disease that I can tell besides the fact that it doesn't eat anymore. It doesn't swim around as much but is still farely active. As far as I can tell it hasn't grazed on any algea because I have some hair algea in a few places and it hasn't been touched. Anyone that is an expert at taking care of tangs know what this could mean. Or am I just being worrisome! I am pretty new at the diognosing possible diseases of fish and want to catch it earlier than later if the tang does have something. I will keep updated if anything changes. feedback much appreciated!
Thanks
christian

Christian,
No expert here, but some ideas to consider...see if you could try feeding it something else. Needs live and dried algae, algae-based food mixtures, leaf lettuce, zucchini, and/or broccoli.

How big is your tank? Could it be stressed by not enough room? (NEEDS 65 GAL OR MORE) Needs room to swim. It is usually very hardy, but too agressive for small aquariums.

Do you have other fish in the tank? Could it be stressed by other dominant fish he views as competition?

Default Re: Tang stopped eating

I gree with c-c. could be a smaller aquarium than it wants.

(i have experience)

try to feed it some formula 2 flakes. my tang loves them.

i wouldnt really try lettuce or zuccini or borccoli.

just try some dried seaweed from your lfs.

also try to add some garlic.

something like
Garlic Xtreme
