I was levling out my sand beacause my yellow headed jaw fish was making domes of sand. so i was swooping away sand around in my tank when i saw a big patch of black sand . is it looks likes charcool in my sand. (im shure it is not. waht tipe of person puts charcool in a tank.) any way it is mostly around the dead sea feather.

Is this a post mordem report of your dead sea feather?

If your answer is yes.... I grieve for your loss.
I thought I had a dead feather duster because it lost his crown. However, it grew a new one, and continues to thrive today. This happened two times.

Or was it a large pile of detritus? I like the serpent stars who are good sand sifters, feeding on that bottom sediment.

Is your jawfish a good digging and burrowing fish? I guess he needs a thick bed of sand for tunneling. I bet he's cute to watch...
