Default When to change filter

So its been about 3 months now... Should I swap the filter out? Wash it off with fresh water, or just leave it go for now? When is a filter change neccesary?

I clean my filters on every water change . I use the old water to do the cleaning so not to loose the bactiera. Not saying it's right just what I'm doing. I will be reading the other post to see how it should be done.

I am using the standard one from my Bio-cube, it is a long activated carbon filter. I bought 2 spares for my tank.. but havent used any of the new ones yet.

Ed, you should be fine.
S-L I would change yours out if you have been using the same one for 3 months.
