Does anyone know the latin species name for the Scribbled Rabbitfish? I'm trying to update some info on our tank, and this one seems rare enough that it's not on live aquaria. It's undoubtedly a Siganidae, but I don't think it's the same as the Siganus Doliatus, which is the Two-Banded Rabbitfish.

Close, but ours is more colored than that - but thanks very much for looking it up Gary. I'll try to get a pic of him this weekend and post it. I'll add that to this weekend's list of:

• Getting the RO/DI unit in and working
• Changing 35 gallons of water
• Replacing one of the LED banks in our light
• Getting new corals for the now-barren right side of the tank (and possibly a Coral Beauty for the tank)
• Setting up a top-off unit

I'm tired already, just thinking about it....

Doliatus is the Two Barred or Two Banded. I have a Scribbled, which is close, but not the same, according to my lfs and liveaquaria doesn't show anything for the Scribbled.....

Mine has 2 bars or bands but not quite as pronounced..... Maybe it is the same thing and mine is a minor mutant or something, but not according to my lfs....

Where you getting these fish from? First you got false clowns that won't take to the anemone. Now a fish you can't identify - maybe they're Factory Seconds!!!

Problem 1 is the only boat we have is the one my son plays with in the tub.

Problem 2 is that it's so hard to tell the fakes from the originals without years of experience. That's why your tank looks so much nicer than mine.

My lfs said it was close but not the same although the Google search seems to show many references that it is the doliatus. See? A Great Fish Mystery! I really appreciate your checking. It'll be interesting to see how this resolves. I'll figure out if I cane mail someone at Scripps or something like that to get an opinion or clarification.
