| How are these two in a deef system? I dont plan on doing a full reef, I would like to get my hands wet a little at a time with this, I Dont really want to get rid of my coral beauty or my emerald crab, Anyone have these in a reef system. Im pretty sure the crab Ive read about ppl puting into there tanks to kill apstahia i think it was. My lfs says I shouldnt by any type of coral until my coral beauty is out of the tank or i would be tanking a good chance of harm. Could they go into my sump its about 10 gal.. or would this be to little space, Coral Beauty seems to jus hang out in or behind the LR in the DT only swiming in its own little area, I made my sump about same area size, only about 4" shorter?

Coral beauties as with all dwarf angels are hit or miss when it comes to them being coral nippers. Emerald crabs are not reef safe dispite popular belief. ALL crabs are omnivores meaning they eat everything wether it be plants or critters. Hermits are bad for killing snails and eating super glue under frags, lol.

I've had a flame and coral beauty in my tanks over the years and have had no problems. A trick with pygmy angels is to feed them a small piece of nori daily. Emerald crabs will eat various algae, but will die if there is not enough to sustain them. Last edited by gimmito; 11-25-2007 at 12:27 AM..

I dont know where ya got that info, but thats incorrect. Emeralds are omnivores, not herbivores as CG mentioned. They rarily eat hair algae, somebody somewhere saw one eat bubble algae and said they eat that, so thats circulated around, but Ive never seen it nor anybody who had one that did. As with all crabs(even hermits) if they can catch it, they will eat it!

In regards to hermit crabs.... I got rid of all mine, they kept eating my asteria snails... thought MAYBE they'd leave my Hawian Hairy Snail alone... I don't have hermit crabs or a Hawian Hairy Snail anymore.
