Default Achilles Tang

I absolutely love this fish but everywhere that i read says they are really really hard to take care of. When i went to Aquarium Fish: Tropical Freshwater Fish and Saltwater Fish for Home Aquariums they even has them listed as Expert Level which really sucks. Are they really that hard to take care of or is this stuff wrong. I would like it to be the "center piece " of the tank so to speak. I think it will be a 75 gallon reef because glasscages.com has them for cheap. My info says 55 but that sale didnt go over so well considering they backed out at the last minute...Thanks guys

Achilles are indeed a very difficult species to keep. I consider myself a fairly experienced reef keeper and I still not dare attempt keeping one of these. They require the best water quality possible and very turbulent waters. Both hard to produce in home aquariums. Im not saying its not possible just saying be prepared to have the best equipment to meet the demands of this finicky fish. Also most people will tell you that you shouldnt keep any tang in a tank less than 6 ft in length.

This has got to be the toughest fish ever! I love Tangs and my next tank is going to be well about 210 to 250 gallons then maybe I will give this fish another go around! This fish is very prone to ICH! I think it should be the last fish added to the system for it to be successful. These are just my thoughts!

I have been acquiring my hardware to run the system. But the space requirement has not been met yet a move is in my future!

When you get the tank up and running you should post tons of pictures. I run out of pictures on here to look at and that is probably my favorite part of these forums. Man do i love pictures...lol

Some hidden fish gear has never killed anyone ...lol. The moving might be another story though. It really all depends on what Becky was talking about with that comment.
