Default Reef Killing Fish

Hello just started to stock my reef tank with coral but I have a lemon peel angle fish and it is attacking all of my frags!!!. I got this type of fish because they are suppose to be reef safe does anybody have any advice which does not involve flushing the fish down the bog.

Hey Gary, everything I am reading suggests that these fish are generally not reef safe. It isn't impossible for them to be kept in a reef system, but generally not a good mix. Sounds like you have a typical lemonpeel angel. Can you return it to the store for credit?

What are your feeding Habiits? What are you feeding and how much, how often? Angels are a place in your reef at your own Risk! They like to pic on the live rock if it's well established aquarium. If not well established let some algae grow on the glass it will pic at that. I would increase what ever you are feeding. It seems like your Angel has a taste already and it may be too Late.

Check This Link:

Lemonpeel Angel, Centropyge flavissimus

It Say's (Should be ok in REEF)

I have 2 angels in mine but I am a gambler.

Could also get a flame angel or Eibl's. I've had both and they were OK.

Angles are tough for sure and if you want to make sure your reef thrives you can't keep them, except for the coral beuty, and a few others, Everything is hit or miss though i have had a 18 inch banded eel in my 90 gallon for 9months and he was in my 55 for 2 years before that and has never even sniffed one of my fish or crustatians. Get the angel on a regular eating pattern, buy a clip and some algae and put it up in the mornings if he starts eating that he might get used to it and supplement it with a small portion of pellets just before your lights go off. I recommend tangs, I have a convict, Naso, and yellow mimic, and they never touch any of my corals.

Yeah, if your looking for a nice looking fihs, and have the room in the tank, get a tang.....a little bit better of a choice IMO.

Thanks for the advice people but the fish has gone to good home. I had to take every piece of rock and coral out of my tank to catch it!!!!!!!!!! this is a major ball ache and I think I im going to have to burn down the shop that I bought it from. Well you live and learn.

every fish his his own way of thinking. it is not a sure thing of how they'll reacted. like my mom said life is all about choices and some are going to cost you.
