Default Flame angel

Live for two months and then stop eating, start downhill and die. Told by my storeowner that most are caught with cyanide. He assured me he is using suppliers who net only.

Anyone have a better answer and/or better luck with the flame?

Have had a coral beauty for three years in my other tank with no problems.

Coincidentally, I have spoken to two different LFS owners who both said Flame Angels are cyanide net caught. From what these people said, MANY fish coming out of the Philipines are cyanide caught.
Very sorry for your loss.

Had one that did the same thing. Unfortunatley, it's hit or miss with flames. I've had one now for 4 months and he seems to be doing fine. Sorry for your loss...it's always tough when we lose an animal.

Go to Aquarium Fish: Tropical Freshwater Fish and Saltwater Fish for Home Aquariums and you can pick from where you want the flame angel from. You can get a few different countries usually.

If you can manage one that is tank raised that's usually best. Or if not ask your lfs how long they've had the fish. Usually flame angels go pretty quickly as they are popular. But if a fish has lasted a longer period of time in the store you're usually safe at home too.
