Now I Have Bought A Wrasse I Have Later Found Out That Its Not Needed And That Wrasses Should Be Left In The Ocean Due To Depleating Numbers So Feel Not To Good About It ,now I Shall Try To Keep Him Alive.

Feed your yellow tang, green nori algae on a clip for it to graze daily. It'll consume alot so dont be shocked, alot of nori will yield you a healthy fish, I've herd the cleaner wrasse is hard to keep in home fish tanks but its do-able

Default Boycott Cleaner Wrasses

Cleaner will not clean fish in the home aquarium. Due to this fact they will often not eat and starve to death. Buying cleaner wrasses is a mistake. Leave them in the ocean.

Yes They Do!

They do clean fish of parasites. Its true they are hard to keep. most probably because they wind up in new aquariums treating desease and they die, because of unstable conditions. these fish are awsome to watch, this is nature healing its own. I'd rather watch them! Than a chemical treatment that fails by it self. Thats my opinion I just bought 2 of them and I hope they do well.

nobomb17 is correct that cleaner wrasses are difficult to feed in captivity as they usually only eat parasites off of other fish. This means that you would need a lot of fish for the wrasse to eat off of. It is not realistic to think that you could have enough fish in any typical home aquarium. But to be on the positive side, I have heard stories(just that though, stories) of people keeping them succesfully. That is the exception.

Did you try some Nori for your yellow tang? both my tangs prefer the green nori over the brown or red stuff

PS: you get the tang to eat that nori daily as a grazing snack and watch, that sucker will get a pot belly quick

Default Follow up!

Just wondering how your wrasse is doing. I had bought 2 just before i posted to your thread I lost one that was very large for a cleaner wrasse. the other one seems to be doing fine and eating frozen brine and variety mix! Still follows my fish around. It seems like some fish swim up to him. So that he can make his inspection. I Have seen my Blonde Naso Tang actually open his gill for him to get in there! I hope he Lives this has been one of the most interesting fish in my tank i have found him lounging in my live rock and actually thought he was dead but to my surprise swam out of there as i was attempting to remove him.
