I don't know if it will work for you but the way I caught my Royal Gramma, Was to use two nets I held one in front of the tunnel he liked to dart to and went after him with the other and he shot strait to the net in front of the tunnel and out he went. He now lives in my mothers 75 gal and much happier.

you are fot the most part stuck with them other then you can take out all your other fish and just get a bunch of buckets you can take out most if not all the water tell they have no place to go your coral and live rock will be fine just save the water

So you don't want to try the dynamite! Get a small jar, bottle or buy a fish trap, don't feed the fish for a day or so, put some food in the trap - the fish goes in to eat, you get the trap out of the tank. I have also heard of someone who baited a small fishing hook & got an unwanted fish out that way. But be sure you have your fishing license!

Well I work in a saltwater fish store, and when I have some problem fish I put food up high in the tank so that the fish have to swim up to get it. If they are scared of the net you need to just put the net in half a hour ahead of time. Works on any fish (except powder blue tangs they are impossible withount removing everything)

also there is traps you can buy, you put food in them and just wait for the fish to get comfortable with it. when they are you just drop the lid and you have them... works all the time =)

Buy the traps , or empty some of the water out. long as you do not let your corals dry out, this will not affect them. and sine the fish have limeted space to swim......

Also, another way is to get a small crab trap....like the kind that are on the piers, and just use that.

are you serious, i have a powder blue tang that i need to get out of my 120 gallon i have over 100lbs of live rock and coral everywhere and your right he is impossible to catch cause he doesn't really care for his food enough to fall for a traping, but im going to buy a fish trap do you think he would go in there?

Hey whatreef, if you have moon lights in your tank, you could try waiting until night time when they are sleeping and try to catch the hippo by surprise. Those guys are streamline and very difficult to catch when you have a lot of rock in the tank. I had a devil of a time trying to catch mine to put him in a QT to treat ich. I tore the tank apart trying to catch him.

Hey R-E-D I would do what jippo123 suggested that sounds like it would work for the damsels. Good luck!

Rock falling down in your tank wow, i dunno about you but i set my rocks up so that would never happen and you should to i have a 120 gallon tank and if a rock every fell and cracked my tank i would how to change my underwear you should take some extra time and set your rocks up nice , alot of guys use that reef glue stuff it help stick rocks together or you could build a shelf to to the rocks on two that works real well and allows the fish to have a bigger cave to swim in behind the rocks

yeah thats crap!. i really dont want to have to take eveything out of my 120 gallon tank, like over 100lbs of live rock and corals like screw that lol. im going to pick up a fish trap tommorrow and im just going to catch the fish in that if he is dumb enough to go in but im not so sure if the powder blue tang is so im just going to catch all the fish and QT them cause they prob got ich from him now anyways, i got cocky and thought i would put the powder blue in my main tank instead of QT first il never do that again.

What I have done is put the net in the water, then put flake food floating around, then when they come up, you scoop him out!. ,you could also try catching him at night, turning off all your nightlights and everything and using a red light or a flashlight.
