It pretty much disproves anything anyone ever thought about ich lol! Well the crushed coral isn't good for the copper (shoulda read the marine ich facts article!) and the live rock will be killed by the copper

Because copper is poisonous to the fish and stresses it out. It all states it in that marine myths and facts article.

I am not entirely following mr. Tang's post but he sounds like he knows what he's talking. If I am reading it correctly it sounds as if ick can only survive in a sand bottomed tank. I beg to differ, my ick issues were all in a crushed coral bottom...

But that may not be what mr. tang is saying...

Either way, just start doing something and learn, thats the only real way to get through it...

More trippy info.
I'm using Metronidazole from SeaChem in my display tank.
every 2 days for 3 weeks.
Seems to be slowly reducing the Cryptocaryon occurances on my Regal BLue Tang but not all are gone yet.
No one has died yet. LTA,GSP,SPS,Shrimp
We shall see.

Yes i agree and hippo's are prone to irritations, as you have probably already noticed alot of scratching...

they seem pretty resieliant tho.

Good to hear that Chris, hang in there and blue will be "right as rain".....

From my experience with my hippo was, he lived thru all of it, my others didnt so it would seem they are prone to "issues" but "hardy" at the same time.

A week after I got my blue tang it too had ick. I went to my local saltwater fish store and the owner recommended getting a cleaner shrimp which will eat the ick parasite.
I bought one for my 90 gallon tank and the ick it gone on the blue tang and its not been back.
I also bought some vitamin liquid food so once once I soak some brine shrimp in it and feed the fish the next day. this helps keep thier strength up.

Hope this helps

If you read the article you'd see the cleaner shrimp is a gimmick and doesn't eat ich...it's burrowed under the skin therefore can't be reached.

It definately educated me on the subject, and every person i ever asked about ick was for the most part wrong, including my LFS's....

I saved the article, thanks...

I wonder tho, sometimes it almost doesnt seem worth the trouble, and just tossing the fish seems easier, (im sure i'll catch hell for saying that lol)
