Default New Naso tang not eating...

SO i recieved a small naso tang from a friends store that was going out of business. I started to drip the tang ina 5 gallon bucket i leave for 20 minutes come back still driping but the tang is laying on his side not breathing gasping for air. I check my QT water fine cant figure it out and it is 10:30 @ night the best idea i could come up with is drip him for like 20 minutes using my display water drop him into the display and hope for the best. My tank is relativly bare at this time( i just moved) so i dont have much too loose. He swam around fine the first day and is now just hiding in the rocks and wont eat. He dose seem to look good... PLEASE HELP i really want this guy too make it..

Tank size 55 gallon mixed reef
"sidebar" i know the tang will get too big i am getting a 225 gallon in 3 months

Try hanging some Nori (dried seaweed) or tying some to a rock. Naso's can be fussy eaters - they are herbivores and eat brown and red algae in the wild. LOL

PS What was it eating before you got him?

yes i was reading this part about dealing with the "hunger strike" its just a little stressed cause it was used to its surroundings and now things are changed...If you went through something like that you would be reluctant to eat.

Brown Nori with Kent Garlic Extreme and few drops soaked in will get his attention! Frozen food with algae mixture will be good choice as well. Good luck with you young naso. My experience with naso's Is I prefer to get the older one because of the Issues of acclimating the younger ones is harder IMO. good Luck!

you can rubber band it to a rock or use a clip depending on how much nori you use I would use at least 5 or 6 drops or more if using the kent garlic extreme.

good luck

Thats too bad Sorry to hear that but to any one else who may consider a little Naso Tang I recommend leaving it at the LFS. IMO A Naso should be at least 3 to 4 inches to survive well in the Home Aquarium there maybe people who have had success with the little guy's but I tried many times with no success in the 2 inch area for some reason.
