| well, according to liveaquaria, they need a sand bed for burrowing. It doesnt say anything about sifting sand through their mouths though.

| I know, and everyone says the same thing, yet on Bluezooaquatics it has them under the sand sifting category. This is making me very sad ![]() |

| I don't believe the yellow watchman goby is a sand sifter. You might have some options if you go to Drs Fosters & Smith. I believe I saw a section specifically for sand sifting gobies. |

| when you guys say "sand sifting", could that mean the fish continuasly scoops up sand and spts it out, or scatters the sand?

| sand sifters bsically will sift the sand through their gills so they can eat the organisms and algae that grow in the sand.

| Diamond gobies are sand sifters. Yellow watchman will casually sift but are not the workhorses that the Amblygobius sp.(dragon goby) and Valencenia sp. (diamond/goldenhead)gobies are.

| I have both the Diamond and Yellow Watchman, the Diamond is a work horse it does not stop sifting and builds caves under every piece of rock in the tank, the Yellow only builds his sand hole and is very shy he only swims about in the dark but is a great little fish. if you are looking for sand sifting Diamond is the way to go! |
