Default Poor Lil MAndarin

I just added a Green Mandarin to my reef yesterday and found him this AM dead in the clutches of my BTA. He was pretty badly stung with some tissue sloughing. The BTA didn't seem to like the "taste," because their slime is offensive. However, after reading up a bit more - I believe that these "smooth skinned" fishes are sensitive to anemones' stings.

I am with you this week, Tristan. I think I lost my antenna goby...and quite possibly a pistol shrimp with it (maybe mine collapse...might want to get UMWA on it). I know one shrimp is still around. He opens the tunnel hole in the morning but will not come out. No real activity since Monday morning. I haven't heard a snap in 24 hours.

Sorry to hear you lost a cool (and new) fish. See you at the LFS.

sorry to hear about your fish, they say mandrins shouldnt be kept in tanks with anemones.

when I had one back in my 90 gallon tank, the same thing happened, damn anemone ate her on me!!

No anemones in my 210 though!! Mandrin to come in a couple more months
