Default Harlequin Tusk & Squirrel Fish

We just bought a harlequin tuskfish and a squirrelfish. They are currently in QT, however as I am reading more and more I'm starting to think that these fish were not a good choice.

The tank is a 90 gallon FOWLR housing 1 Hippo Tang, 1 Maroon Clown, 2 Banggaii cardinal, 1 blood shrimp, 1 skunk shrimp, and snails.

The intention is to go reef in the future. Can anybody give me some advice on these? I'm finding mixed things online.

Thanks in advance!

It seems I am being ignored

In any event I have come to the conclusion that these fish have to go back. My first opportunity will be coming Saturday. I have until then to decide what I want to get next. Currently the 90 gallon is a home to 1 hippo tang, 1 maroon clown, 2 bengaii's, 1 skunk shrimp, and 1 blood shrimp, and of course a CUC. Any suggestions?

As a fowlr they would be ok with the probable exception of your shrimp/snails.
As a future reef it will be hard to have crustaceans/snails with the tusk, and small fish with the squirrel.

Aquasalt, by chance did you buy them on sale this past Saturday @ Itchy Stuff? I bought a sun coral frag, firefish, snails, crabs and another coral. When John and Jen do a sale you can't pass it up.

Yes I did, Holiday! That's too funny that you guessed it! When were you there?

BTW I didn't realize we got them on sale...I paid $60 for the harlequin and somewhere around $25 for the squirrel. They have some of the best livestock in the area though, that's for sure!

everything should be fine, except you can say good-bye to your inverts. if you have another tank, you should pick them out and move them, where your harlequin tusk can't get them.

Thanks for the input. I have decided to return both of these fish at my earliest opportunity. Until then they will stay in QT--far far away from any inverts.

I have a couple of fish in mind at he moment. I'd really love to get a magnificent foxface. I think he would be a fine addition to my stock.

I was there at 10:15 till about 11:15. The line was already long. Give them your email address and then you will get notice of any sales ahead of time.
