Reefyredfish, I heard It can be housed with some invertebrates, like anemones and corals, but not crustaceans. I'm looking to get one my self.

hi ace. reefs im new at but fish ive got experience with. the snowflakes ive had in the past are fine with all small fish and inverts(so ive been told) so long as you have open space in which to feed it large pieces of food ie.muscle or cockle are good. they can be messy so id be more concernred with the waste it can produce!! hope that helps..

When i kept snowflake eel it was in a fish only system which was heavily skimmed using an aquamedic turbofloter 5000 twin, did most of the organics, but also had three trickle pipes which also worked really well. In a reef tank (which im new to im trying to have as much good quality live rock as i can practically fit in the tank coupled by a good skimmer and water flow...hoping that would be my only filtration.

I have a snowflake eel in my 55 gal tank. It mostly hides in the rocks and pokes his head out. I have probably 8-10 hermit crabs in there as well as many snails. Also, a yellow tang, black clown fish and a coral beauty. There are also some torch coral and anemones that the eel doesn't even aknowledge. The eel never seems to bother anything except when he gets excited by food, then he only sniffs at the other fish in case they are food. So far I have not had any problems with the snowflake eel, though a good lid is highly recommended.

DITTO. Mine does exactly the same thing I also have a pencil and a longspine in my 55 as well as a lion and a bunch of snails. The eel leaves everything alone he just likes his hiding spots and comes out when its eating time and when my daughter comes near the tank he does not like her! Or maybe he does, not sure lol. Mine has escaped once but was rescued in time and i made a better lid.
