Default new yellow tang

i have a yellow tang that was purchased last thursday.it has been hiding in a very tight cave in the living rock from the time it was introduced to the tank until today.when i got home from work it actually had come out of hiding and is swimming around exploring its new home.i noticed that both pectoral fins look like they have damage on the trailing edges[like something took a jagged bite from the backside of both fins]has anyone else experienced this before?could it be damage from rubbing against the lr for the last6 days?
other than that it seems pretty healthy with no symptoms of any kind.

Could be fin rot. Got a picture? Here is a link on tang diseases at WWM. There is a person who described fin rot on there tang on this page, it's the 8th question from the top. There is also a picture of a yellow tang with fin rot on this page.

What other fish do you have? Puffers are known to be fin nippers along with many other types of fish.
