this may sound dumb, but if you have a tank, and no fish in there has ich, how does a fish get ich? it is parasitic, so.....?

It could be from a previous fish? A life cycle of ich lasts 6-8 weeks

Is that your case? It could be possible that the ich could be living on it but the fish's immunity is good, when it's stressed that is the chance for ich to takeover.

my lfs told me that ich is always in the tank its keeping your fish healthy and under little stress that keeps them from being infected by ich and tangs are easly infected by ich

I went to my LFS and they recommended liquid garlic I put six drops of this stuff in my 55 gallon. LFS said it builds the immune systems and gets rid of parasites on the fish. i have 1 very small blue tang and a medium size sailfin, clown fish, a cardinal, spotted mandarin, 2 peppermint shrimp because of aoptasia, and a horseshoe and some turbo's so far so good!

Hi ,

A good idea is to soak your fish food in liquid garlic in fridge for 24 hours then feed to fish. They say it boosts the immune system in your fish.
