| Yeah I definately think your tank is too small (Jason L) for 5 tangs...Read this thread Reef Frontiers

| thats why they are all differnt sizes.So for the time being it is just one big happy family.

| The ones you have particularly require a tank of 125 gallons or more...but they still have time to grow so you're ok.

| If you dont have a QT it would be advisable to get one. New tank+5 Tangs=Trouble. I hope my math is wrong. Tank looks great! I want to see some close up pics of that hippo in 4 weeks! Make me swallow my words! |

| Jason, Yes 5 tangs in a 90 is way pushing it. Dont feel discouraged because everyone on these boards means well.. not being mean. In a 90 G I'd say keep 2 of the tangs that are most likely to get along in the long run. (at the most) I had 1 yellow tang for my 75 for 6 years and he got big.! And with the rock its less room for them too, even though it gives them room to hide, still less room. "Everyone is happy NOW" but they will fight and kill one another. See IF your LFS will take back 3 of them for a credit? You can add some nice fish that will compliment your tank and the tangs. =) IF they refuse to give you a credit speak to the manager and tell them that you bought (or was sold)all of the tangs there and you were misled by the salesman. They never should have sold you 5 tangs for a 90 gallon tank. How long has your tank been set up? Just wondering? I have been in the SWF tank hobby for about 7 yrs and have had 5 tanks of different sizes and species and I have made BIG mistakes but boards like this have helped me bunches! I am now setting up a 12 G nano so I came back for advise. You cant go wrong with so many different perspectives here. Take advise and help but never feel discouraged. ANYWHO: Looks nice though., Kim |

| Tank looks great Jason. Plese consider as others have said removing at least 2 of them tangs, I'd hate to see stress start and ich pop up because of it, It could very well happen. As others have said we are not trying to be mean or rude by any means, just looking out for the good welfare of the fish ![]() Saltwaterfish.com has a good little thing next to each fish stating minium requirments such as tank size, etc.. I suggest a quick read on the fish you have ![]() Your tank does look very nice though!!! |
| ||||
| yea just remove 2 of them becuase tangs do not get along in odd numbers of the same species.

Tangs get along better in odd numbers rather then even. Example of same species: Yellow Tangs; if you had 2 yellows they'd fight but if you had 3 they'd get along as a group !!, Another rule of tangs not gettin along is, the same color/same shape of the tang, this way is hit or miss though but is used for reference time and again... Please dont post if your not certain you know, your only making yourself look more and more foolish my friend. |

| I had a blue hippo tang and added a sailfin tang in a 90 gal and within 1 week i had ick and no quarantine tank. I lost over $$400.00 in fish over a 2 week time never again that was my rookie mistake tangs will get ick if they are stressed at all! Good luck to you and you reef you have a nice set up and its devestating when you start losing fish and cant do much about it. |
