I scrapped the DIY chiller right after that pic was posted for several reasons:
1. the vinyl tubing acts more as as insulator so it does not conduct heat(cold) like I wanted. answer: use metal tubing like aluminum or stainless steel. It will work better, but it will cost much more and be more difficult to work with.
2. my fridge ran constantly. I had a lot of heat buildup under the tank. It did maintain the temp ok...
All in all, it was a good attempt. Some fine tuning will make it work better. I was in a time constraint issue as my LR was arriving soon and I didn't want to have to worry about the temp swings. I purchased real chiller and it works perfectly maintaining the temp at 78.
Yes, the LR I got has a lot of coraline alage on it. I like it. In a couple of weeks, I'll be adding a few more corals. I put a rock with several purple shrooms, and they have already added 3 new polyps. Thanks for your kind comments folks.

Looks good Lynn,

What chiller did you end up purchasing?

I've been debating one myself, But I'm not sure I'll need it with the new tank going in the basement.
