| I scrapped the DIY chiller right after that pic was posted for several reasons: 1. the vinyl tubing acts more as as insulator so it does not conduct heat(cold) like I wanted. answer: use metal tubing like aluminum or stainless steel. It will work better, but it will cost much more and be more difficult to work with. 2. my fridge ran constantly. I had a lot of heat buildup under the tank. It did maintain the temp ok... All in all, it was a good attempt. Some fine tuning will make it work better. I was in a time constraint issue as my LR was arriving soon and I didn't want to have to worry about the temp swings. I purchased real chiller and it works perfectly maintaining the temp at 78. Yes, the LR I got has a lot of coraline alage on it. I like it. In a couple of weeks, I'll be adding a few more corals. I put a rock with several purple shrooms, and they have already added 3 new polyps. Thanks for your kind comments folks.
