Re: Responsible harvesting In some areas it is against the law to "take from the reef". Although there are also areas around the world where you can legally handpick. Some large blackmarket "fishers" use a liquid that stuns fish, therefore making it a breeze to go down and swoop them up with a net. Although it is VERY harmful to the reef. Not only does it stun fish, it kills corals. Some companys that do it pour barrels of the stuff in and kill out entire reefs. It is a key factor to reef destruction. It is very hard to enforce wildlife conservation in some places too, because in many places the reef is what people survive off of. (torist, fish, etc.) If some "GREEN" changes don't occur in the future then we might lose our beautiful reefs(aka. global warming, the main cause for reef destruction). Not trying to scare you or anything :-P just putting that chunk of research out there. If your looking for a place to handpick, then i suggest checking the local laws for that area before you dive in. You could recieve a hefty fine or even be put in jail if the laws don't allow it.
