| the general rule is 1-2 lbs per gallon. I personally have 80lbs in my 55 and like the look. After you get the rock, you can just put corals in. You need to let the tank cycle amd then SLOWLY increase the bioload.

| 1-2 lbs per gallon is a guideline. If you have more porous rock it will be lighter and larger than if you have more dense rock which will be smaller and heavier. Try to look for the most porous type of rock you can get. The nitrifying bacteria reside on the hard surface areas in our tanks so the more porous the more surface area and the more biofiltration you will have. JMO

| 2lbs per gallon I try and go with but 1 lb will be a great start. I admit I dont have 2lbs per gallon but my rock is not very dense and heavy so the 100lbs takes up alot of room and its so porus. |
