Its just closed up from the stress of transporting... (my guess)

Do you have any detactable nitrates ?

How did you acclimate it?

Colt's can get real cranky, It should be open by tommorow I would say though..

What lighting was the coral under vs, what it is now ? (things to consider)

Good to hear from you KrazyK.

It was in a frag tank under the grid that holds up the sps corals. Of course these were under MH but this guy was not getting all of it. Looked pretty good and was of good size and purchased it right. (maybe not)

I have him 2 thirds down in tank, moderate to heavy flow. I am using 260w T5 HO. Water temp 77-79. Other parameters look real good and have some other soft corals that are doing great. (I do have a cranky finger leather)

I did not drip acclimate him. He soaked for two hours in the top of my tank before placing him. (probably should have dripped him).

Any suggestions?

almost every coral i have brought home doesent come out in the first day or 2. Its normal for corals to adapt to the change in the water and lights. it may take a couple days but it your water is good than it should come out soon.

Good Luck fraggin that bad boy !!!

The colt has literally got to be the WORST coral to get to attach once fragged...

I suggest a sowing needle and thread, the ole toothpick method doesnt work for me with this particular coral...

Low Low flow is key to success as well

If you go back and look at the first pic in the thread you will see what I started with. It was tucked under some rack in a LFS and looked quite sad but the price was right. $35

Wondering if your colt shrinks back considerably at night. Mine withdraws to your original size almost every night. I have a clown that hides in the colt at night, and I'm wondering if it is good for it, as it shrinks back considerably , guessing due to the clown irritating it's tissues. Though it does fully expand in daytime.
Do you still keep it so near to the bottom?

Colts do deflate at night and throughout the day. I've been told that it "cleanses" itself from time to time by expelling water and wastes throughout the day. It also will contract when the water parameters are off or it's disturbed by something.

C-C: It sounds like your clowns need an anemone to host in. Usually, corals do not like having clowns hosting in them.

Hey, doing some research on wattage; can you all let me know about how many watts you have in your tanks for your corals? I'm wanting to get a light system that will give me 4.5w/gal. Is that good amount of light for most corals? I LOVE that colt coral!

Am I understanding you right? LOW flow for the colt coral? I just got one myself, might be a kenya but, if they do perfer low flow, i need to move him, maybe that's why he isn't opened yet!
