Default Best corals for beginner

Hello Guys.
I haven't had a saltwater tank in 20+ years.

Im making a reff with fish 54 gallon tank.

What would be the best corals/fish for a beginner ( After the cycle )

Mushrooms, Polyps, Cabbage Leathers are good to start with. Many people say Toadstools as well, but I don't have a lot of luck with them.

I'd stick with soft corals with that lighting. There are some really interesting leathers and polyps which do ok. Once you get started and get a little more advanced some low light species like "Sun corals" do well in lower light situations. These corals, though, are more difficult because they demand phytoplankton and specialized feeding. How big is your tank?

A few people on this site liked their toadstools, though I've not really been successful with them. I had good luck with Cabbage corals and Colt corals.

i would get some type of brain coral. definitely get a torch coral or anenome. i would wait a while before you get some kind of gorgonian type coral. i bought a nice red piece and it looked great for a month and then it just fell apart. mushrooms are also easy as well as some yellow polyps.

arent they pretty much all around the $50 price range? seems like everything is right around there give or take. i love one of my LFS places..no matter what, they always lower the price. even if its just $5 or $10, just makes you feel better.
