Default Pulsing Xenia help

I have had a xenia well and pulsing for a while now and yesterday I did a 1/5 th water change. All of a sudden it is all shriveled up and and a couple stalks are just laying over on its side. It looks as though it is dying. All parameters are good. Nitrates are around 15 ppm but they are always around there in my tank. Any thing I can do to help???????

When you did your water change did you bring your new water up to temp. before adding?Xenia doesn't do well with water temp. fluctuations.

I have had the xenia for about a month looking great then now it looks as though it has been popped. No more pulsing and is on its side. I did bring the temp up on water I added. I am at a loss for words.

Are you the same guy who was microwaving the water for a water change?

yes I am. The only reason for warming water in microwave was to dissolve salt quicker. I did not boil it. I only warmed acouple gallons to dissolve salt completely. did not really think this was unacceptable. I guess I made a mistake.

I understand that. One of the first rules with marine tanks is to be patient. It takes at least 24 hours for your salt to dissolve; most people will let it sit longer. It would need an airstone or PH to keep the water circulating. Consider this: have you ever been taking a shower when the hot water runs out? Think about your xenia with a sudden water temp change. They are fairly hardy, but it doesn't sound good at this point. You said a 1/5 water change; 1/5 of what? The tank size? 5 gallons? A small heater in your water change container to keep it as close to your tank temp will work, if necessary.
