Default Help with Devil's Hand leather......

I got this really nice looking Devil's hand leather from the LFS about 3 - 4 weeks ago. I was nice and opened up and bright orange/brown color. Now it has shrunkend down is a greenish/gray color. It was like this for about 2 weeks, and then started to open up a bit again and the color turned more brown. Now it is shrunken down again and green in color. Anything I need to do to give it a boost to get back to normal. It doesn't appear to be doing really bad, just not as vibrant as it was. Any help appreciated. All other corals are doing excellent in the tank, including a finger leather.

I have one although I really think we have a "club" finger or "thin" finger it is hard to say. Any way mine came with the Lamnalia I bought and it was in fairly strong current as that is what the lfs said they require. Mine sheds some thin membrane off to get rid of the algae growth, this is only for a day or so. try a little more flow over it.

I have a toadstoll coral and when I forst got it a while ago, liveaquaria told me to do an iodine dip because the coral was not doing all that well. As I was looking around trying to find a solution for your coral I remembered the dip. I went to look for it and I found this:

Reefermadness Acclimation Page

Now in there is says not to do the dip on soft corals. BEFORE YOU DO ANY DIPPING RESEARCH MORE! I was just giving this link to you because liveaquaria told me to do it but I am in no way suggesting that you do it. I am just saying, look at the possibiliteis.

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. I came home today at lunch and it has started to open back up and some color has returned.

leathers will close up and lose there color when stressed, is there any fish or inverts messing with it? are you providing enough food (zoo plankton for leathers)
does it have enough light? maybe you should raise it up a little closer to the MH? good luck
