 yellow polyps vs a weed whacker i have a question on yellow polyps. i have a rock just covered in yellow polyps....it has slowly started to spread off the rock which i am happy about. the question is...why is 1/2 the rocks yellow polyps fully open and waving in the flow and the other 1/2 is at most 50% open and retracted. sort of looks like a lawnmower rolled over the rock and chopped it down but there is nothing wrong the rock. just looks weird. plus its always the same side of the rock. just curious.

| Re: yellow polyps vs a weed whacker could be a lot of reasons, the polyps retract when a fish hits them or lets say that you wave your hand in front of them or try to touch them (eek)

| Re: yellow polyps vs a weed whacker yeah, but they usually only retract for a few minutes..not days. i am gonna take a snapshot and post it later. i gotta go drop in my new sally lightfoot crab, he's been floating for a while, lets see if he goes to work on the hair algae.
