Very nice looking coral. I can attest to Eds tank I personally saw it a couple weeks ago and he has enough xenia for every member of this site haha.

Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?

To Starboy:
Thanks- I really appreciate the info, as I try to print up something on everything I put in my tank- this helps. I have printed this up and will hold on to it in case I have any other q's. I am really happy you have this, to be able to share with me how to care for it...I usually pass on 'not beginner' stuff, until I feel I can handle it- he didn't explain it at the LFS. But it is home with me, and I am determined to enjoy it for a long time coming! Thanks!

To Edward:
I brought home: Kent Marine Lugol's - I know how to dose my main tank according to the bottle. BUT- if it is 1 drop per 25 gals, how much do I put into a 14gal? I don't want to overdose. Tonite I added 1 drop. And thought that might be fine until next week.....does that sound ok?

*** Last night, after a bit of time trying to catch good ol' Chrys- I put a tiny piece of what was left of the xenia in a lettuce clip, and baited him.....works super FAST!!!
(sorry xenia)
So now he is in my smaller tank for now, and I put the xenia in the main tank--- and WOW! I can't believe the difference! They are budding and bushy!
I only hope I can get the african blues to make a come back!
The iodine was def a good idea-----thanks!!!
I will not jump ahead of myself, I will wait a week-or 2 and post some pics of it progressing, but just wanted to say THANKS !

Be very careful adding iodine. It is a strong natural disinfectant and toxic to corals and fish if too much is added.
Always measure accurately before adding. To do this you need a test kit such as Saliferts because iodine exists in many forms and you need a complete measurement reading.Natural seawater measures at 0.06ppm,a tiny ammount.Increase this to more tham 0.08ppm and your heading for disaster.

I think one of the issues is that iodine is toxic, iodide is the main bio-available form of iodine, and much less reactive to tissue.

I have blue xenia all over my tank. It gets wiped out by protozoans on a regular basis and always returns in force. Oddly enough, the protozoans touch nothing else in the tank. I have not pieced together the trigger for the crash, and franky, the ways this stuff grows, I am not too worried about it. Clavularia and Discosomas seem to beat it in a territory battle. My zoas and palys seem indifferent to contact with it.
