| That is a good skimmer, esp. after a few minor mods. I have the triple recirc model that uses 3, OTP 2000 pumps. You'll want to do a mesh wheel mod and modify the venturi to get your maximum skimmate production. One thing that I feel needs to be mentioned with the octopus pumps is that the pump outlet threaded fitting breaks really easy, so you don't want to use pipe thread tape on them (use the tube kind instead) and don't over tighten. Thankfully, if the piece breaks, you can buy a new one for about $10.

| what pump did you get to feed it? The needle wheel recirculation pump on that model I plan to upgrade my skimmer to use 2of them.....I would be curiuos to see what kinda bubbles they make before hand though ![]() How do you plan to build your sump? what type of baffle setup?

| Lowej - FYI, the pump fittings are metric so the pipe threads on the pump don't match standard threads that you'll find at any hardware store. This may, or may not, be an issue for you, but I thought that I'd point this out before you decide on the OTP pump. The recirc skimmer can be fed with any pump that flows near the recommended rate since the recirc models get fed through a barbed fitting w/ hose and not the metric fittings. BTW - The OTP pumps seem to be alright pumps, but you don't want to run them at a higher wattage than they are rated for or the pump will die prematurely. If you do the mesh wheel mods, a Kill-A-Watt meter is highly recommended.

(guard I guess lol) anyhow superglue gell works great not 1 leak on either pump. I will get a pic real quick and post it just to show what I did.
